Maysee McLean Accepted to Ryerson
Maysee McLean, an iFilmGroup member has officially announced that she has been accepted into the Media Production Program at Ryerson University. This comes on the heels of months of hard work by Mclean leading to this point and brings her one step closer to her dream. McLean will start her Bachelor of Arts in the program in the fall of 2019.
Formerly, Radio and Television Arts, the BA in Media Production continues to offer a comprehensive program in the art, craft, and business of media. As a media production student McLean will concentrate on television and video, radio and sound, digital media, screenwriting, media business, and critical media theory. The program focuses on effective storytelling which brings ideas and issues to life in inventive ways, capturing the hearts and minds of audiences.
In her final year, she will complete a major production or research paper and compete to attend the RTA Upfront, an event attended by Canadian broadcasters, production companies, and other media professionals.
RTA is committed to developing students with the education, practical experience and network they need to succeed in a competitive marketplace. Employment opportunities for Media Production graduates include: Production, Screenwriting, Graphic Design, Editing, Radio and TV Hosting, Social Media Management, Digital Media Sales, Distribution, Marketing, App Design, and Television Producing
McLean is known for being part of the iFilmGroup short film dealing with depression “Struggles Within” as the Masked Dramatic Girl. She was also part of m & s Marshall Productions short film “Blue Love” where she played the role of Piper Keys in the film.
Recently McLean won a $5000 North American Scholarship through SOS Magazine for a mental health video she produced on suicide to help foster dialogue on mental health and raise awareness about depression. She will use the scholarship towards attending Ryerson where she hopes to continue to advocate and bring awareness to the issue of mental illnesses through her studies.
